I love listening to Keith and Kristyn Getty. Besides knowing of them from "In Christ Alone" I also happened across a CD of theirs at the public library one time. Lately I've enjoyed listening to them on youtube.

No You Are Not The Centre Of The Universe

In our Tuesday Night lesson last night Matt Chandler was telling us to find out what things stir our affections for Christ (besides the obvious things like good preaching and good music and stuff like that) and to focus on them. One of the things I thought of right away was the massive size of the universe. I love watching little video clips and whatnot that show how HUGE everything out there is and having those thoughts stir my affections for Jesus who created it all.

Stirring Affections

Matt Chandler often says that an important question to ask is, "What stirs my affections for Christ? And what weakens my affections for Christ?" And then to obviously avoid the latter while involving yourself in the former.

I know a few things that really stir my affections for Christ. I think I could list a bunch of things. But a couple I'm thinking of right now are great preaching from guys like Chandler and great music with great words by people like Lecrae!

You hear a lot of complaining all the time when talking to people or skimming the facebook homepage and seeing everyone's status. We really should try to express more thankfulness. Averil and I were talking about so many things we have to be thankful for and I told her I've been thinking lately of simple things I'm thankful for, more complex things I'm thankful for, and the ultimate thing I'm thankful for.
